The minimum order for prosthetics depends on the size, complexity and price of the

Larger hand colored items might be available at one piece per design. Please call us if you
        have any specific questions.

  MEDART-FX
KITS

How do I replace supplies as they are used up?

Supplies in the KIT can be ordered directly from MEDART-FX or can be purchased locally.
We can only guarantee the safety and effectiveness of makeup and other items we supply. Items
such as bandages, cotton swabs, wet-wipes, etc. can be purchased easily and inexpensively
      at a local store.

Working with Prosthetics

What is the patch test for Prosthetics?

MEDART-FX supplies a silicone adhesive that is used to apply the prosthetic. Prepare a small
amount of the adhesive ( mixing equal parts A and B ). Apply a thin layer of the adhesive to the
part of the body where the prosthetic will be applied. If there is an allergic reaction, it will likely
appear within about ½ an hour from application. To remove the patch, peel off. As the adhesive
material cures, it will formed a film / skin layer that is easily removed.

What are MEDART-FX Prosthetics made of?

MEDART-FX prosthetics are made of Platinum based Silicone. It is non-toxic and hypo-allergenic.
Colors embedded in prosthetic are made of silicone and will not stain other materials

How reusable and durable are the prosthetics?

For sanitary reasons, we do not recommend using a prosthetics for more than one actor / PC.
The prosthetic is very durable. An actor / PC can reuse the prosthetic many times with care.
Prosthetics may be permanently colored by makeup. Adhesive may build up under prosthetic
if it is applied many times. We do not recommend wearing the prosthetic for more than 6 hours
although it can be work as long as the actor is comfortable wearing it. Peel Prosthetic off skin
carefully. Do not cut or tear prosthetic or use with materials or makeup not recommended
      by MEDART-FX.

Are the Prosthetics non-allergenic, non-toxic and non-staining?

      Yes, Yes and Yes.

How do I choose the Prosthetic SHAPE for my case?
How do I choose the Prosthetic COLOR for my case?

Choose the shape and texture that looks as much as possible like the real-life example for the
      condition in your case.

Select the color that matches most closely, the skin tone of the SP or Patient Simulator and the
basic color of the real-life example for the condition in your case. If you are using a Stock color
prosthetic, you can use makeup and to color the prosthetic as needed.

Does it matter where on the body the Prosthetic will be placed?

The contour of the body should be compatible with the contour of the prosthetic. Silicone prosthetics
are very flexible and will conform easily to the shape of the body. The thinner the prosthetic, the more
easily it can bend to fit. The prosthetic will adhere best if the skin surface is clean and free of hair,
but the adhesive can be built up on any surface to fit a prosthetic.

What kind of adhesive do I use with the Prosthetics?

The adhesive MEDART-FX recommends and provides is platinum based silicone and becomes
an adhesive by mixing equal parts A and B. Apply a thin layer of the adhesive to the part of the
body where the prosthetic will be applied. Use a very thin layer of adhesive for faster curing time.
Press prosthetic onto adhesive before the adhesive cures (is no longer sticky) The Silicone
Adhesive can be used to build up a shape into which you can press the prosthetic. You can build
up layers of adhesive and let the layers cure between applications. The adhesive can be shaped
and given textures whild it is curing. The Adhesive will have the same texture and density as the
prosthetic. The adhesive is colorless and clear or cloudy, depending on how thickly the layer
      is built up.

What kind of Makeup can I use with the Prosthetics?

MEDART-FX recommends and supplies professional theater makeup. You can experiment with other materials
to see what works for your cases.

How can I make the prosthetics look as real and natural as possible?

Choose prosthetics carefully to match the skin on which it is going to be used.

Use a thin layer of adhesive under the prosthetic and spread the adhesive out to the perimeter of the prosthetic
so that it looks like it’s part of the body.

If there is hair around the prosthetic, make sure it fal s “naturally” around or over the prosthetic.

      Use makeup sparingly.

      Use Glossy and matte surfaces.

Apply “blood”, “pus” and other realistic effects / materials as required.

Bandage the wound / condition on SP as you would on a real patient.

Are there any materials I should NOT use with the Prosthetics?

Do not use latex materials or anything in silicone that is lead based. Those materials will prevent the adhesive from curing.
Some makeup and other colored material can discolor prosthetics permanently.

How do I use Prosthetics with PATIENT SIMULATORS?

Be sure that you choose Prosthetic colors that match your specific Patient Simulator.

Use prosthetics and adhesives as you would on an actor (SP).

Test any makeup or other materials on a sample of the simulator skin first to be sure the materials
will not harm or discolor the skin.

Working with Makeup

What is the patch test for the Makeup?

Apply makeup to skin. Leave on for approximately 15 minutes and remove as per instructions.
If there is an allergic reaction, it will likely appear within half an hour

Is there a special kind of Makeup I should use?
Can the Makeup harm the Prosthetics?

Actors’ professional oil base makeup works and should not discolor the silicone prosthetic or harm
the tattoo.   Makeup can be removed with denatured alcohol, professional makeup remover or
acetones. If you are using acetone, do not soak prosthetic in acetone as that might distort the
prosthetic. Use makeup with the tattoo as necessary for desired effect. Tattoo is a one-time
      use only.
